Emi Kagawa, Pianist

Emi Kagawa, an acclaimed soloist and collaborative artist, is celebrated for her bold and captivating performances worldwide. Praised by the New York Sun as "an artist both interesting and bold," Kagawa's music is described as a 1,000-piece puzzle, with each piece a masterpiece, according to the Salt Lake Tribune.

Her distinguished career boasts solo performances at renowned venues like Weill Recital Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Trinity Church, Steinway Hall, and Symphony Space. Notable engagements as soloists include appearances with the Missouri Symphony Orchestra, Lakeside Symphony Orchestra, and Knoxville Symphony Orchestra. Kagawa has won accolades in prestigious competitions, including the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition and the Nancy Clark International Piano Competition.

As the Principal Keyboard of the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra, Kagawa collaborates on innovative concerts with MANI Brooklyn Chamber Music. She has featured in master classes with luminaries like Joseph Silverstein and Peter Wiley. Kagawa is currently a piano faculty member at Bryan College, TN, and has served on faculties at institutions like New York University and the New York Youth Symphony Chamber Music Program.

A graduate of Kyoto City University of Arts and the University of Colorado at Boulder, Kagawa continued her study at the Juilliard holds a Doctorate of Musical Arts from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Born in Osaka, Japan, she now resides in Knoxville, TN, with her partner Sam and four feline companions. Beyond music, Kagawa enjoys cooking and embracing the beauty of nature.
