The Oak Ridge Symphony Orchestra was founded as a community orchestra in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The founder and first conductor was Waldo Cohn, a Manhattan Project biochemist and an accomplished cellist who started hosting chamber music sessions in his home upon arriving in Oak Ridge in 1943. Today the organization has become the Oak Ridge Civic Music Association, which includes the

  • Oak Ridge Symphony Orchestra—a fully professional orchestra led by Maestro Régulo Stabilito
  • Oak Ridge Chorus—a community chorus
  • Oak Ridge Chamber Music Series—Professional, world-class chamber music performed by critically acclaimed musicians near and far.
  • Oak Ridge Coffee Concerts—local players performing favorites and more in venues around the city!

The Music Director of ORCMA is Maestro Régulo Stabilito.

ORCMA is a 501(c)(3) organization. All donations are tax deductible per IRS regulations.  Consult your tax professional for information.

ORCMA is an organization dedicated to enriching lives throughout our community and supporting local musicians and composers through the performance of diverse and inclusive orchestral, choral, and chamber music in its many forms.  Our vision is to become a growing and inclusive association of people interested in promoting music education and people interested in the performance of a diverse and inclusive range of orchestral, choral, and chamber music.

The 2020 strategic plan immediately enabled all ORCMA concerts to include music by underrepresented composers and arrangers, specifically women and people of color who have been marginalized in our industry.  Composers and arrangers performed to date under the new plan are:
